Nickens Daryl Nickens wrote the first feature film written by an African-American to open number one at the box-office - HOUSE PARTY 2. Daryl also wrote the award-winning Wonderworks Movie YOU MUST REMEMBER THIS. In Television, he has been a producer of the Emmy-winning PBS series, LIFE 360 and part of the creative team behind the hit HBO animated series HAPPILY EVER AFTER. He has written pilots for CBS, Paramount and Nickelodeon, episodes for such shows as THE PARKERS, VIPER and THE FAMOUS JETT JACKSON, and has been on series staffs, including A DIFFERENT WORLD and 227. Daryl Nickens' essays have appeared in THE JOURNAL OF THE WRITERS GUILD OF AMERICA, THE BEST AMERICAN MOVIE WRITING 2001, and THE FIRST TIME I GOT PAID FOR IT: WRITERS' TALES FROM THE HOLLYWOOD TRENCHES, for which he currently is editing a sequel edition. In addition to his own career, Daryl has served the community of writers as a member of the Board of Directors of the Writers Guild of America, a trustee of the Writers Guild Health and Pension Fund and Vice President of The Writers Guild Foundation, for which he co-chaired Words Into Pictures 2002. He teaches screenwriting at the USC School of Cinema-Television at the graduate level, and in the Guy Alexander Hanks/Marvin Miller Screenwriting Program sponsored by Bill Cosby. Also a member of the faculty of The American Film Institute's AFI Conservatory, Daryl Nickens has been Chair of its graduate screenwriting program. He has conducted seminars on screenwriting at the Acapulco Black Film Festival, The Jamerican Film Festival and the Sundance Institute. Daryls' work has been nominated for the Emmy, Writers Guild of America Award, the Writers Guild of Canada "Top Ten" Award, the NAACP Image awards, and twice for the Humanitas Prize, most recently in 2001 for an episode of THE FAMOUS JETT JACKSON.
