IN YOUR NEXT MARKETING PLAN, PLAN ON SOMETHING NEW
This newsletter has become one of my favorite ways to reach out, educate and entertain.
It was something I started three years ago and means that I now reach thousands of people via email, Twitter and Facebook.
As a result it\’s become one of the number one tools in my marketing arsenal and also, one of my greatest business pleasures. I receive messages from people across the globe – in the last few days I\’ve heard from the UK, Egypt and Costa Rica. It makes me divinely happy to know that while I might be tied to my desk five days of the week, I\’m able to globe-trot on a daily basis.
And this started because I decided to try something new – and I urge you to do the same.
The next time you put together a marketing plan, leave room to try something new. Make sure you factor in something unchartered and untested. And give yourself a little time, patience and space to figure it out.
Be it a stunt, a marketing video, or your own mailer. Give it a go.
I have been in meetings where people have visibly recoiled at the thought of doing something new but here\’s the test of whether or not you\’re putting yourself out there… it has to scare you (at least just a little bit).
Allow yourself some wiggle room and be prepared for the fact that sometimes your new plan won\’t work. That\’s okay. And the more you fail, the more you learn. The most important thing is that you are open to change because when humans give up on the new and claim they know everything, that\’s when they become old and crabby. Being closed to new ideas can be the death of progress and business.
And the next time someone asks “What’s new?” you’ll have a great report from the frontlines.
Let me know how it goes, I\’ll be in your corner cheering.
