People are curious by nature – pique their interest! Start off with something to attract your audience\’s attention. You have a split second to grab it before they swipe on to the next video; this is your starting point. One. Split. Second. Capture their attention by having a catchy caption! (Hello, alliteration!) Also, make sure your first words are just as ear-catching as the caption was eye-catching. Now, teach them something! This is your moment to inform them of your product or services. Don\’t throw everything you can in there; just give your viewers enough to entice them to click on that sweet, sweet link in your video to learn more.

Have Fun

Let\’s face it, there are two things that are guaranteed in life: 1) nobody likes monotony, and 2) nobody likes ads. You\’re already fighting an uphill battle, so why make it harder by being boring? Have fun in your videos. Show excitement, show enthusiasm, show your will to live! Most importantly, show them how your product or services will help them in their endeavors by showing how it\’s helped you or others. Remember: show, don\’t tell! And you must be familiar with the platform, or work with someone who is familiar with the platform before you post. Respect for the platform and tone is essential.

Be Authentic

Don\’t be afraid to poke fun at yourself or your product or services (good-naturedly, of course).  Take a glance at Gwyneth Paltrow and her daughter Apple Martin\’s  TikTok promoting Goop to see a great example. People appreciate humility; show them that you\’re just as human as they are. It\’ll go a long way in establishing a good relationship with your viewers-turned-consumers! The Tik Tok community embraces creativity, engagement and authenticity – so don’t be afraid to show your true colors on this platform.
